Gift Guide For Teenagers
The next best thing to a how to handle a teenager guide is a gift guide for teenagers. Especially if you’re purchasing for a niece or nephew and have no idea where to start. I try and stay away from gift cards and cash as much as I possibly can and try to find something that pertains to their personality.
And I always include a gift receipt, just in case!

Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch was a hot commodity when the COVID pandemic began, and its popularity has yet to decrease. If you have a teenager in your life that doesn’t already have one, this is your perfect opportunity to make their day.
They’re currently low-stock on Amazon, but can be found in many local stores. Best to call around and get one on hold stat!
Ring Light
Do you know of a teenager or have a teenager of your own that loves to create videos? Whether they’re creating short-form content on Tik Tok or creating long-form videos on YouTube, a ring light will help them out immensely.
Plus, if their school ever goes back to online learning, they’ll be looking especially good for virtual classes!
Weighted Blanket
I think we can all agree that teenagers have had a rough couple of years, and anxiety has hit all-time highs. Help your teenager relax and get more quality sleep with a weighted blanket. This is a
company based out of Calgary, AB in Canada and they have ready-to-ship and customizable weighted blankets.
They also have weighted animals which are great if you’re unsure the teen(s) in your life would like a weighted blanket. Weighted animals would also be good for anxious teens that don’t like to fly.
Hippo Hug does ship internationally and you can learn more about that on their FAQ’s page.
Fujifilm Instax Camera
Do you know how teenagers always think they have the newest and coolest products out there? We all did it, regardless of how old we may actually be now. Let’s just take a quick moment and let me explain to you what I saw not long ago when I was out on a run.
A couple of months ago I was running along the seawall and I was near the Vancouver Convention Centre. All of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I see two young gals taking a selfie with a disposable camera. A DISPOSABLE CAMERA. Y’all, I haven’t used one of those since high school, which is relatively fitting for this post.
Give them a step up from the disposable camera with this Fujifilm Instax Hybrid Camera/Printer. They can print off images from their smartphone to this camera, and they can also print out the images they take with the camera. They’re about to learn the importance of getting the perfect photo before printing.
Printing photos gets expensive 😉
Vibrant Dual-Ended Markers
For the one that is always drawing, sketching, calligraphy or colouring, you can’t go wrong with a good set of watercolour dual-ended markers. In fact, think about how much money can be wasted
by purchasing lower-quality sketching types of tools. Not to mention the frustration could keep your teen from pursuing what they’re great at.
This kit includes 48 markers and there is a brush-end and a fine point end to get those fine, medium and bold strokes to help achieve whatever their goals are in creation.
Don’t forget that Michaels is always offering coupons and discount codes so make sure to keep your eye out.
Time marked Water Bottle
I’ll be the first to admit that when I was in high school, drinking water wasn’t high up my list. But we all know how important hydration is for us, especially if we’re being active.
If you’ve got a teenager in your life that has a habit of not drinking enough water, and/or plays sports after school, this water bottle is exactly what they need.
I personally am a sucker for a pretty water bottle. If someone had purchased me a super cute water bottle growing up, I would’ve consumed more water.
Beginner Acoustic Guitar
Learning to play an instrument can be a daunting task, or even switching from one instrument to the other can also be difficult. If you have a musical type teenager in your life, you can’t go wrong
with a beginner acoustic guitar. Or maybe you know of someone who already plays the guitar, but never takes theirs out of the house to bonfires or camping trips; this works for those as well.
Now, it is not a professional guitar such as a Taylor, by any means, but it is a great beginner acoustic guitar from any person seeking a well-built and easy-playing guitar, to get them started.
Don’t forget to pick them up some picks and a stand either. But definitely the picks.
Portable & Inflatable Lounger
What teenager doesn’t love having a lounge spot wherever they go? Exactly. Whether your teen loves to hike, camp, chill in the backyard, or head to the beach, they’ll be comfortable with this waterproof inflatable lounger sofa.
In fact, I may need one of these. When camping, sometimes I wanna lay down and read, but not be inside the tent.
Does this mean I’m technically a teenager at heart? *shifty eyes*
DashCam
If you have a teenager that is now driving, the gift of a dashcam that works in the front and rear of the car would make an excellent gift. While they may roll their eyes, a dashcam can help them
immensely if they are ever in some sort of accident, or witnessed an accident.
If these had been a thing when I first got my license, the lady that hit me could have gotten herself into a fair amount of trouble. That’s a long story for another day, but a gift well worth the investment for your young driver.
They may also light up because it means you trust them to drive solo. Deep breaths – now they can take themselves to and from practice!
Wrapping Up
Buying gifts for teenagers can be difficult, I know, but hopefully, this list gave you an idea or two for shopping this year.
