MyBadges.com – Blog & E-Commerce Website

Website copywriting, blog content creation, and image design, were key elements of my role in marketing with MyBadges, prior to my layoff in September 2020.

Website Image Content Creation

Most product images edited by myself to showcase the product features. The images needed to be bright and light, thus fitting in with the theme of the new e-commerce website. This organization wanted to have a much more modern approach to their website as well as an e-commerce capability.

Properly sized images made the website looked uniform and professional. This also helped alleviate long page load times, and storage issues in the back end.

Some products did not have supplier high-resolution images provided. Therefore, I produced product images and edited, while adhering to the guidelines set out by the organization.

On the old site, previous images were outdated and we could only display one image. With the new website layout, we were able to display multiple product photos.

As we were now able to showcase various product angles, we were able to give the customer a better overview of the product, prior to purchasing and increasing the overall conversion to purchase.

Blog copywriting

Creating a blog was important on the SEO side to help convert visitors to the main site to purchase products. Also, this was a great way to showcase events and conferences that were attended or sponsored by MyBadges.

Discussing new products that can be used at conferences and events can be a bit boring to talk about. By picking and choosing products that weren’t mainstream, we were able to capture readers’ attention. This resulted in clicks through to the main website.

This organization was very vocal in wanting to tell stories which helped showcase the importance of in person events. All events were attended by myself.

Blog content was designed/written by me up until September 9th, 2020.

The e-commerce website was a labour of love. After a mishap with the previous developer, causing a multi-year delay it was time! Once the new developer had all of the back end elements in place, we were able to layout the site for overall usability.

Key elements were going to be: choosing a colour (where needed), showing the volume discount pricing chart, adding a quantity to the cart, and having the correlated item number (different per colour/size) show up in the cart.

Product Minimums

Different products have different minimums and order quantities so it was important that we could highlight that, and ensure clients were ordering in the quantities we sell products in.

For example, with the previous site, clients could enter whatever quantity they wanted, which resulted in back and forth to get the product(s) changed and ordered in the appropriate bundle.

As a result, on the new website, clients could only enter proper quantities, ensuring a seamless order process.

Date Specification

Events always have a specified date. Because events are happening on a particular date, having note of that date was important to have on hand. When orders are placed closer to an event date, that helps the organization determine if an issue could arise.

Descriptions

Descriptions were key components of the e-commerce site. When it comes to research some clients want a quick description, and others want all possible pieces of information.

SEO Strategy

Having a proper SEO plan in place was key.

Titles have key words/phrases and same with descriptions. Please keep in mind, there was no keyword stuffing, which can be detrimental to your SEO strategy. It was important we made sure we had strategic placement of keywords to help our SEO development on the new e-commerce website.

E-Commerce Functionality

Two website were created; one was for Canadian and the other was for USA/International. This was done to accommodate purchases in USD and CAD.

If this sounds like something you need help with please reach out to start a conversation 🙂 It is imperative to keep up with website copywriting and content creation to get the most out of your digital marketing strategy.
